The Vines


The Vines is a grunge band from Australia, from musik2 influenced rock n roll 60s, especially the beatles also 90-an/musik alternative rock music, especially Nirvana.Since 2006 they have personnel consists of vocalist and guitarist Craig Nicholls, guitarist Ryan Griffiths, bassist Brad Heald and drummer Hamish Rosser.

They appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in October 2002 (the first Australian band to do so since Men at Work in 1983!) With the words "Rock is Back: meet the Vines" decorated underneath tulisan2: The Strokes, The Hives, The White Stripes and The Vines combined which will save rock music that year.

The Vines have been quite successful in the Australian recording industry, winning the ARI Awards in 2002 for best newcomer Artist and received nominations for six other awards in recent years.
In 2003, their debut album Highly Evolved got double platinum in their home country Australia, and since then the band has released three albums and "Best-Of" compilation of their time on Capitol Records. Melodia their last album was released on July 12, 2008 in Australia, in England on 14 July and in the United States on July 22.

BAND HISTORY:

Formation of the early years (1994 - 2000)

The original line-up came together in Sydney in 1994 when Craig Nicholls and Patrick Matthews met while working at McDonald's in South Hurstville, NSW. They began playing music together, with Nicholls on guitar and vocals and Matthews on bass. They were soon joined Matthews school friend David Olliffe on drum.Band was originally called Rishikesh, as suggested by Olliffe, relating to places in India where the Beatles had spent time in the 1960's. Nicholls suggested the name of The Vines, a tribute to Elvis fronting a local father who had a band called The Vynes. They began to bring Nirvana.
